AUTUMN FESTIVAL

We are going to celebrate our Autumn Festival in November. All the school is involved in it; Infants will have the Hibernation Party and Primary groups will do a show around the Harvest
Year 5 A and 5 B will represent a song called "That's how a pumpkin grows", here you have the video and its lyric.

That's How a Pumpkin Grows
That’s How A Pumpkin Grows

Take a seed from your pocket and put it in the ground
Press it down nice and deep and push the dirt on down
The harvest moon comes in October
And when you look over your shoulder

That’s how a pumpkin grows
That’s how a pumpkin grows
That’s how a pumpkin grows
Now it’s a pumpkin

When we go to the pumpkin patch we’ll have so much fun
Maybe spend round an hour or two ‘til we find the best one
The harvest moon comes in October
And when you look over your shoulder

That’s how a pumpkin grows
That’s how a pumpkin grows
That’s how a pumpkin grows
Now it’s a pumpkin

PHOTOSYNTHESIS SONG It was suggested to the teacher by Alba Martínez (Year 5A). She included it in her Project of Unit 2. THANK YOU ALBA.

PLANT NUTRITION

Like all living things, plants need to "eat" and to "drink" to grow. Follow this link and click on the plant to investigate how it works

Plants need to disperse their seeds away from themselves to stop overcrowding and to create new plants. Nearly all seeds are produced within "fruits". These fruits enable seeds to be dispersed in a variety of ways.

DO YOU LIKE READING?

 THE GRAPES GROW SWEET

This book is a lovely story related with the topic THE GRAPES HARVEST...It tells the story of a family's work at harvest time in the wine country.
The young reader has an entertaining as well as educational view of the grape harvesting process. Through the eyes of four-year-old Julian, the story unfolds. This is the first year he is able to help his family, yet he is eager to be driving the tractor and pulling the gondolas full of grapes. His family reassures him that before long he will be doing just that while his parents sit back and watch.
The reader can almost smell the sweetness of the grapes as they mature at harvest time. Amidst the tractor, equipment and workers, small animals and bees, lured by the sweet smell, punctuate the pictures adding additional interest. The book is a wonderful combination of beautiful art work, highly descriptive text and the positive story line of a family working together and supporting one another in order to harvest the fruits of their labor.

If you follow these two links, you could learn a lot about the grapes and the harvest:

Do you know that our mates from the second cycle went to the grapes harvest in Langa? Ask them about their experience. Here you are some photos of that day:
